Element Forensic Engineering assesses, quantifies and compares existing and new buildings for conformity to prescribed historic and current governing codes, and standards which include the Ontario Building Code, National Building Code of Canada, Ontario Fire Code and municipal by-laws.
As part of our interpretation, we are able to consider alternative solutions and compliance alternatives during the design of repair to an existing building. Our conclusions can be detailed in a report, or used in support of a design.
Code interpretations include:
- Zoning review
- Building code matrix preparation
- Historical /retroactive code assessments
- “Grandfathering” provisions
- Change of use
- Walking surface assessments (pathways, stairs, ramps)
